Brown, with a little bit of butter to make it crunchy on the back but soft on the top. And you can add some sugar and cinamon to make it "special" toast.
I love all of the mentioned ways already. It's hard to decide. But I would have to agree with Aimee. I love toast with my Grandma's home made apple sauce on it. It's pretty much heaven.
I can't say that I've ever tried applesauce on my toast...I guess I'm kind of boring. I go for lightly toasted with a smear of butter and honey. Or with a fried egg on top.

Dipped in runny egg yolks!

I have to admit- the thought of putting apple sauce on my toast kinda makes me want to . . .
I really like it smeared with homemade raspberryth jam- or with my fried eggs- or with butter and cinnamon and sugar.
I'm with Aimee and Heidi; homemade applesauce on warm, buttered toast...it's the best. But the egg or cinammon or jam or honey ideas are all good too.
My first choice would be applesauce but I also like it with peanut butter, and a little butter with sugar.
Real butter with homemade strawberry freezer jam on top.
Julie beat me to the punch, only I insist in having it made with homemade whole wheat bread.
With cheese :-)
With Cinn and Sug
Slathered with creamy peanut butter, drizzled with honey and topped with banana slices. Yum!! It's what i had for breakfast actually :)
